Kildare’s and East Branch Brewing Co. have teames up to bring you this fine barrel aged Imperial Stout for the pleasure of your tastebuds
Equus is an Imperial Stout aged in a Blanton’s bourbon barrel with an ABV of 9%. Bitter chocolate, coffee, burnt sugars, followed by rich bourbon notes with layers of dark fruit, caramel, vanilla, and toasted oak.
We were lucky enough to be given said barrel by our friends at @kildarespubwc and we are going to take turns celebrating the unveiling of this big beautiful beer at our respective establishments. East Branch will tap the keg and have bottle sales on 12/14/23. Kildare’s date is 12/28/23. #eastbranchbrewing #equusimpstout

Equus – Blanton’s barrel aged Stout 9% The base beer is a big 8.0% Imperial Stout that was then aged for 3 months in a single Blantons’ bourbon barrel. 3 months later it picked up enough barrel character and was ready to be bottle conditioned. First poured, you’ll notice this beer is jet black with a nice brown dense foam. Aromas of bitter chocolate, coffee and burnt sugars give way to rich bourbon notes that have layers of dark fruit, caramel and toasted oak. At first sip it tastes like a rich Imperial Stout with toffee, dark malts and chocolate but the bourbon flavor shines while drinking this with notes of burnt caramel, hazelnuts and vanilla. Medium bodied, the malt sweetness helps to balance out the big bold bourbon character as you sip this beer.
